Another advantage that the Asus gaming monitor has over the Acer gaming monitor is the headphone jack. You will see that both these features are best suited for gaming.
In a work environment, you don’t really use a headphone jack, and even if you do, you can make do with the one in the CPU. Similarly, for entertainment units, the audio jacks are mostly in the main unit. Majorly due to these two features, we think that the Asus Rog Swift PG279Q is a better choice for gaming.

Build & Design
The Asus Rog Swift is a very well-built monitor. Even though most of the outer shell is completely plastic, it still has a strong feel. The plastic construction also ensures the monitor is lightweight and easy to move around.
An important design aspect of gaming monitors is the monitor stand, and the Asus Rog Swift has a beautiful monitor stand. It’s nothing unique, as it is just a square base with angled finishes on each side. It’s the red ring and the Asus logo on the base, which lights up when the monitor turns on, is what makes the stand so beautiful. It looks severely cool when gaming in the dark.
The bezels of the Asus Rog Swift PG279Q are a bit too thick for our liking. The thick bezels do not affect the display too much, but they do affect the overall beauty of the monitor. But, it’s not a total deal-breaker.
One thing that we really like about the Asus Rog Swift is that there are no menu buttons on the front. Instead, the menu buttons are on the backside of the right bezel. The menu is a mixture of buttons and a joystick to easily navigate through and make changes to the menu.
The Asus gaming monitor has a versatile stand that has FOUR different adjustments. You can tilt the monitor, swivel it around, or even change the orientation to portrait or landscape. In short, whatever position you think provides the best view, the Asus Rog Swift can shift into that position with the flexible stand.
When you consider the performance, especially for gaming, the Asus Rog Swift PG279Q is one of the best gaming monitors out there right now. With the 1440p resolution, the 165 maximum refresh rate, and the full sRGB color gamut, the picture quality is the best in the business. You get a high-definition picture, vivid and bright colors, and intense graphics.
Whether you are enjoying games, movies, editing, or graphic design, the experience is immersive and enjoyable. The wide viewing angles and the IPS technology ensure you get the best view from every angle. Playing games with friends, everyone will get the best view, no matter what angle they are sitting at.
One of the outstanding features that make the Asus PG279Q so good for gaming is the NVIDIA G-Sync technology. Thanks to the G-Sync technology, the games run smoothly with almost zero stutters and picture tearing, and you can forget about input lag too.
The Asus Rog Swift is also one of the first gaming monitors with 4K UHD support. So, for enjoying movies and streams with the best picture quality, the Asus Rog Swift is a very good choice.
Asus also considered your eye health while making this monitor, so they integrated the Asus Eye Care technology into it as well. The Eye Care technology reduces the blur-light effect and controls the harmful flickers, so you can enjoy marathon gaming sessions without any fatigue and eye strain.
All in all, the Asus Rog Swift PG279Q is an all-rounder. Whether you want a monitor for work, entertainment, or gaming, this is a terrific option. Loaded with features and powerful hardware, finding a better monitor than this one is difficult.
Acer Predator XB271HU Review
If you are on a budget but don’t want to compromise on the features and performance, you should go for the Acer Predator XB271HU gaming monitor. Comparing the Acer Predator XB271HU Vs. Asus Rog Swift PG279Q, there isn’t too much between them. The only thing is the Asus Rog’s slightly better Max. Refresh Rate of 165 Hz as opposed to Acer’s 144 Hz.
However, the biggest difference between the two is their prices. The Asus Rog Swift price is double the price of Acer Predator. You can get the Acer Predator for $600, whereas the Asus Rog costs a whopping $1000.
When you think about the price and consider the hardware specs, the Acer Predator seems the more intelligent choice. It doesn’t cost as much as the Asus PG279Q but does offer pretty much the same performance and specs.
- 27 Inches WQHD (2560 x 1440) widescreen with NVIDIA G SYNC technology
- Refresh rate: 144Hz (overclocking to 165Hz) Using display port
Build & Design
The Acer Predator has a plastic build with a metal monitor stand. The two materials are integrated together very well and overall make the monitor solid, stable, and durable as well. The monitor stand is also very well designed. The V-shape stand has an ergonomic design that is easy to maneuver in any position you want.
With the red edges, it brings the aggressive gaming look that, we think, every gaming monitor should have. People often complain that the v-shape stands aren’t very stable, but this stand has no such problems at all.
The stylish v-shaped monitor stand complements the clean and edgeless look beautifully. There are menu buttons on the front, but they look tidy and clean, and the screen is almost bezel-less. The very thin bezels make it a perfect choice for a multi-monitor gaming or workstation setup.
All things considered, the monitor has a beautiful and solid build, and it would look beautiful in any sort of setup. The red finish in the monitor stand might not be ideal for an office environment, but you can always change the colors.
One thing that gives the Acer Predator a clear advantage over the Asus Rog Swift is the wall mount feature. The Asus Rog Swift doesn’t have the wall-mount option, whereas the Acer Predator supports the VESA wall-mount 100 x 100mm. For home use, the wall-mount feature is very important and gives the Acer monitor a clear advantage over the Asus monitor.
When it comes to performance, the Acer Predator XB271HU just falls short of the Asus Rog Swift PG279Q gaming monitor. Even though they both have the same screen size of 27 inches and the same screen resolutions of 2560 x 1440, picture quality, colors, and brightness is just a little less than the Asus Rog Swift.
The Acer Predator also has a lower Max. Refresh Rate of 144 Hz. But, it does have the same NVIDIA G-Sync technology to enhance the gaming experience and provide a smooth gaming marathon session. The lower refresh rate is what makes all the difference. But, considering the difference in price and the difference in performance, we think that the Acer Predator is a better option.
But, just because we are giving priority to price doesn’t mean you should too. The Acer Predator does lack certain features too. Unlike the Asus Rog Swift, the Acer Predator doesn’t support 4K video, and it doesn’t have a headphone jack as well. Moreover, the Acer Predators has a lower number of ports, which makes it difficult to use it in a multiple monitor system.
The Acer Predator does have flicker-free technology, but it doesn’t have the blue-light reduction filter. So, while gaming for continuous sessions, you will experience some strain and eye fatigue, which isn’t really ideal.
Now you know that what trade-offs are you making because of the lower price of the Acer Predator. If we were to conclude the Asus Rog Swift PG279Q Vs. Acer Predator XB271HU, we would say that they are quite similar-looking monitors, but the latter is better than the former.
All things considered, the better gaming monitor between the Asus Rog Swift PG279Q Vs. Acer Predator XB271HU is the Asus Rog Swift PG279Q. It offers a better frame rate, better graphics performance, and better overall picture quality. But, if you are looking for a budget-friendly monitor that provides satisfactory gaming and overall performance without costing too much, we suggest the Acer Predator XB271HU.
