Sony X800H Vs Samsung Q60T Comparison and Buying Guide
[amazon table=”1013″]You can see that both the Sony and Samsung TVs aren’t the same. They use different display technologies and even run entirely different operating systems. But when it comes to performance, that’s pretty similar. With 4K resolutions and multiple other technologies at work, both these TVs provide high picture quality for all sorts of usage.
Whether you want a TV, a monitor for your computer, or a monitor for your gaming console, both these TVs are great. However, one of these is better at some aspects than the other, and vice versa. Let’s get into our detailed reviews and see which TV should you invest in.
Sony X800H Review
Sony has a wide range of TV series. Whether you want a top-tier TV with premium features, a mid-level TV, or a plain budget TV, Sony has several options in every category. Their premium and mid-range TVs are some of the best-performing TVs. But, the budget TVs are a bit of a letdown.
The Sony X880H is one of their mid-range TVs with a mixture of high-end features and some underwhelming aspects too. Under some circumstances, you would feel that there is no TV better than the Sony X800H, while sometimes it can disappoint too. In short, the performance is not very consistent.
In this review, we will take a closer look at all these aspects of the Sony X800H. We will discuss the good and the bad, so you can decide whether it’s a good fit for you or not.

As is the case with products of a long series, the X800H has a similar design to its predecessors. No matter what size option you go for, the build and the design are the same. The TV is completely plastic, including the body and the stand. The stand, more like four legs of the TV, is also very sleek but stable at the same time. There is wobble when you place the TV on any smooth surface.
The stands are quite far apart on each side, so if you have a long soundbar, it will easily fit under the Sony X800H. However, the wider stand design has a disadvantage as well. You will need a wider table to keep the TV- almost as wide as the TV itself. But if you are planning to mount the TV on a wall, then it’s not a problem. The VESA 300 x 300 wall mount holds the TV well, and because it is a thin TV, it doesn’t stick out of the wall too much.
On the backside of the TV, there is a long and very obvious grate as well, which acts as the heat vent. We know that it’s an essential part, but it could have been a bit more subtle. The Sony X800H, unlike its predecessors, lacks good cable management. The previous models had cable holes through the stand, which was better looking and tidier. The X800H only has two hooks on each stand leg, which can’t really fit more than three cables at a time.
The numerous ports are also very well placed. They are on the left backside of the TV. They aren’t obvious, but plugging the various cables is fairly straightforward. Lastly, the bezels, or borders, are pretty thin too. The 0.6-inch thin borders really make the screen pop, and you get to see your favorite TV shows and movies in the best way.
Performance
The Sony X800H brings a pretty solid overall performance, with good picture quality, accurate color recreation, and UHD 4K resolutions. With the 4K HDR X1 processor, the X800H enhances the picture, colors, and details of everything on screen. With its 4K resolution, HDR support, and wide viewing angles, everyone will enjoy HD visuals no matter where they sit in the room.
Along with the X1 processor, the Sony X800H has what Sony calls the Triluminous display. It is a quantum dot technology which means the screen has a wider color gamut and expresses things like contrast and picture sharpness in a more beautiful way. Watching movies and your favorite TV programs will definitely be a better visual experience with these two technologies at work.
If you plan to use the Sony X800H with your gaming consoles, you will be happy to know about the Game Mode. With the 60 Hz maximum refresh rate and the dedicated Game Mode on, you will get to enjoy a smoother gaming experience, no matter which console you have. Thanks to the versatile ports, you can attach any gaming console or even your gaming PC to the Sony TV.
Moreover, the Sony X800H TV has the MotionFlow XR, which keeps video playback smooth and realistic. It also minimizes blurriness during those fast car chase scenes of Fast & Furious. Sony also integrated HDR and the Dolby Vision into the Sony X800H TV, so in terms of picture hardware, Sony didn’t compromise on anything.
With all these extraordinary technologies at work and the reliable hardware of Sony, you can be sure that the TV will bring great performance to your house and last for years to come as well.
Verdict
The Sony X800H is not a bad TV at all. It’s got a bright display, accurately recreates colors and details, and is well-suited for a variety of uses. Our only complaint is the price tag. If you look at the competitors, you can find similar TVs at a lower cost. So, if you’re willing to make the switch from Sony to some other brand, you might save some money. If you only want Sony, the X800H is the best choice.

Samsung Q60T Review
Just like the TV we are comparing it to the Samsung Q60T is good, but not great. Samsung Q60T is a budget version of the high-end QLED models of Samsung like the Q80/Q80T. It does bring the highly-anticipated and much appreciated QLED within reach of the common man, but the inclusion of QLED means the expulsion of some very useful features.
Even in comparison to its predecessors, the Samsung Q60T gets a downgrade of processor, gets a lower refresh rate, and has a lower number of ports too. When you compare the Samsung Q60T Vs. Sony X800H side-by-side, the difference in quality is visible. Let’s take a closer look at what the Samsung Q60T has and what it lacks in terms of specs, features, and quality.
[amazon box=”B085L7GTSF”]Design
The design and build of the Samsung Q60T is the same as its predecessors. It’s a solid and sturdy build, with plastic being the major build material. With the large display screen and thin bezels, the TV’s viewing area is quite large. Even though the whole body is plastic, it has a sleek and elegant finish of a high-end TV. It doesn’t look or feel cheap at all.
Samsung experimented with the stand of the TV, and for us, it’s not a successful experiment. The boomerang-styled stand legs almost ruin the whole elegance of the TV. Moreover, the new stand is not the most stable out there. The stand legs are quite narrow, unlike the Sony X880H, but the Samsung wobbles if you nudge it. So, don’t nudge it if you aren’t planning on mounting the TV on your wall.
On the backside, there is a subtle grate for heat dispersion, several different ports, and VESA wall-mounting holes. Unlike the stand, the TV is much more stable on a wall mount. Because it is a slim TV, it doesn’t stick out too much from the wall. But, the ports are not sideways, like on the Sony X800H. The ports are on the backside, so plugging cables is a real task.
The outlook of the TV is beautiful, with the thin bezels and the sleek build, but a few components like the ports and fragile stand almost ruin the party.
Performance
Even with the downgraded processor, the Samsung Q60T mounts a solid overall performance. The Quantum Processor 4K Lite and the Quantum HDR just manage to mount enough power to provide a smooth and enjoyable visual experience. However, because of the less powerful processor and lower refresh rate, the performance lags behind the competition.
The Sony X800H with the Game Mode provides a smooth gaming experience and holds pretty well against things like lag and blurriness. But, the Samsung TV can’t handle intense games at all. The input lag, the blur during fast scenes, and the picture tearing are too much for the Samsung TV to handle. So, if your major use is going to be gaming, this TV is bad news.
Then comes the good user experience- better than the Sony X800H, thanks to the Tizen OS. The Tizen OS offers support for a wider range of apps than both Android TV and Roku. So, you can access every streaming service, including Amazon Prime, Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, and Hulu. You also get AT&T TV, YouTube TV, and any other streaming service out there.
With all these features, the Samsung Q60T would have been a great mid-range TV if it wasn’t for the IPS-VA display panel. It basically means that the TV doesn’t have wide viewing angles, and the picture quality will not be the same from every angle. We think no one should be using a VA panel in this day and age.
We talked about all the deficiencies of Samsung in comparison to its predecessors, but we would also like to mention a huge inclusion. Samsung finally realized that Bixby isn’t working with their TVs, so they gave in and integrated Alexa into the Q60T.
Verdict
The Samsung q60T is good but not great. The VA panel is a huge con, and considering the amount you will be paying, we would say that there are better options out there. Especially if you often watch content together on the TV, some people won’t enjoy the movie the same way as other people sitting in a better position. But, if you can deal with that, the Samsung Q60T is the most affordable QLED Samsung TV at the moment. So, it’s your decision whether you can make that trade-off or not.

Conclusion
If you ask us which is the better TV between Sony X800H Vs. Samsung Q60T, we would definitely go with the Sony X800H because of two things; the wide viewing angle and the Game Mode. Even if you don’t consider the Game Mode, the VA panel of the Samsung Q60T is very off-putting- to us at least. However, we don’t know about your preferences and your needs, which is why we chose two products. Now you can make a better final decision, having read these reviews.
